A must for summer 2019: the overalls are back
Summer 2019’s trends are bringing back numerous classics from the past and its old generations. One of the latest “archeological findings” in the fashion field for this year’s summer are overalls, trending nowadays.
Few would have bet on the return of a piece of clothing like this one, but now they’re coming back strong. Trousers with a frontal bib, a classic for children, rarely ever worn as grown-ups. Now it’s not like that anymore. Surely, we also have to thank great stars and supermodels for this come-back, as they started wearing overalls again.
We’re talking celebrities as in Margot Robbie, Emily Ratajkowski, Selena Gomez, singers like Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Lopez or supermodels like Josephine Skriver. Each one of them has been photographed out and about wearing their overalls.
Apart from these great personalities wearing them, however, overalls remain a comfortable and childlike piece of clothing, maybe the most representative of the “streetwear” style as it is originally intented. It was just a time’s matter for it to be back in style.
Originally born as a work garment in the 1800’s, the overalls became a must-have outfit in the 60’s, suited for both women and men. As much as this comeback is exclusively about women.
There are, in fact, many brands which are bringing back overalls in different versions, suited for every taste and every budget. For example, we have the ones from Suncoo Paris, extremely original and imaginative. The ones by Asos have the classic huge pockets on the front and exposed seams, whereas Alcott went for the classic denim ones.
Liu Jo, on the other hand, went for a model in between the classic overalls and an elegant jumpsuit, with different combinations of styles and colors. The overalls by Liu Jo that follow the classic model, have the basic structure, but with a pink base and colorful floral patterns. The other two models, on the other hand, are one-shoulder types, suitable for both night and day.
The “daytime” overalls by Liu Jo have a white base with floral patterns, much simpler and basic than the former. The other one has black and yellow stripes instead, definitely more elegant. Both carry a belt that gives them a finishing touch of class and elegance.
