MILAN FASHION WEEK 2019: THE BEST OF THE CATWALKS
Milan's fashion week of 2019 showed the market which direction the wind is blowing in. As a matter of fact, the South East of Asia, seems to be at the center of attention in the fashion world. Apart form the many Asian models, in fact, the crowd was full of journalists and buyers coming from different Asian countries, interested in the western fashion.
As for inventiveness and news in the collections, on the other hand, an example that struck everybody was the N°21 by Alessandro Dell'acqua, for both women and men, centered on the "non-dress": cropped sleeves, openings, slits, rips, creases and folds. A trend that's definitely not new, but renovated in every aspect. Similarly, Ermanno Severino captured everyone's interest, even though is "normality principle" doesn't go well with the actual style of his dresses.
Obviously, things got more interesting when it game to the big names: Armani and Gucci.
Armani is a Titan: always loyal to itself, always recognisable, but always with something new. This year's decision was to make a comeback to the classic, though updated to modern times. For women, the dresses in this line are even more extraordinary, almost ethereal: organza parkas, dress-covers, long tulle skirts, kimono style sleeves, blazers with round shoulders, stitched trousers and much more, everything in a delicate Asian style.
Gucci surprised everyone, by starting in a complex and weird way for a fashion show: on every chair in the public there was a presentation text. A text called: "new forms of subjectivation.
Not exactly tha lightest, as it talks about the powers exercised on the lives and bodies of some people rather than others, keeping some of them free and other in chains.
This was the starting point of the fashion show, started with straitjackets (only an artistic choice, not for sale) on robot models, going to a performance that, after some minutes of darkness (the public thought there had been a blackout), brought on stage models with whips and Gucci Orgasmic bags, in many different colours. A dystopian fashion show, that narrates a future similar to the one portrayed in the movies from the 80's.
